Australia Awards alumna, Alumeci Vularika is in charge of environmental health services at Nadi International Airport. She leads a hard-working team responsible for the health and safety of Nadi Airport’s passengers and staff.
When COVID-19 arrived in Fiji, Alumeci oversaw infection prevention and control, screened passengers and crew, conducted contact tracing, disinfected planes and opened and ran fever clinics.
Alumeci says her Masters in Environmental Management and Development at the Australian National University (ANU) enabled her to take a holistic approach to managing Nadi Airport’s COVID–19 response.
“This pandemic also helped me master my on-award skills by looking at ways of stopping the spread of the virus (problem solving), making decisions to help raise passenger experience and satisfaction, building networks, and improving collaboration and communication within the airport community.”
