The Australian Government is proud to see Australia Awards alumni supporting the Fijian Government to respond to challenges faced by people across Fiji during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meet Jovesa Korovulavula, an Australian Awards alumnus, who completed a Master of Special Education at Macquarie University in 2014. He says
students with disabilities are most vulnerable to the impact of COVID-19, in terms of health, hygiene and education. It is so important for us to be aware and ensure they are given the right support so that no one is left behind.
As the Inclusive Education Coordinator for Australia’s Support to Fiji’s Education Sector Program, Jovesa is assisting the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts’ Special and Inclusive Education Unit to develop innovative strategies such as using digital tools and designing home-based curriculum so that students with disabilities can learn at home. These activities also include a focus on health and hygiene such as handwashing techniques.
